Exploring the World Through Listening with Padlet

In this post, I want to share an exciting listening activity that I have developed specifically for second-grade children. In this activity, we will be using the Padlet application to help students enhance their listening skills and explore the world around them. 

SIGHTS AND SOUND AROUND THE WORLD 

📌 Objetive. To improve students listening comprehension while discovering different places and cultures around the world. 

📚 Materials: 

Internet-enabled device for each student. 

Free Padlet account (you create an account at https://padlet.com/).

1. Preparation: 

Create a Padlet board with different sections. You can have sections like "Famous Landmarks", "Exotic Animals", "Musical Instruments", etc...

Add related images to each section

2. Introduction: 

Begin the activity by explaining to the students that they will be exploring different places and cultures worldwide through listening. 

Explain how activity will work using the Padlet application and ensure that all students have access to their devices. 

3. Activity Implementation:

Divide student into small groups and assign each group a section of the Padlet board. 

Each group will select an imagen from their assigned section and listen to an English audio description related to the image. 

After listening to the description, students will discuss within their group and guess which image marches the description 

Once they have a reached a conclusion, the can click on the corresponding image on the Padlet board to check if their answer is correct. 

Continue the process until all groups have had the opportunity to listen and guess the descriptions from different sections of the board. 

4.Conclusion: 

Gather all students together and review the correct answers for each section on the Padlet. 

Encourage students to share what they have learned about different places and cultures during the activity.
